Outfit Inspo for a Job in Retail

September 25, 2019 Caroline Tullis

Hey, y’all! I hope everybody is having a fabulous week so far!

I don’t think that I mentioned it on my blog before, but I now have a part-time job as a stylist at the Francesca’s boutique! I’ve been working there for over a month now and I absolutely love it. I love the team, the setup of the store, the location, the fashion (obviously), the flexible schedule, pretty much everything. It was my top choice for when I applied for part-time retail jobs, and I’m so blessed that I was given it! It works out perfectly with my busy class schedule, and I love being a stylist overall. It’s a wonderful opportunity!

When it comes to dress code for a retail job, it’s pretty simple. There’s not really professional business attire that’s necessary, but it just really depends on the store. It’s a pretty flexible dress code at Francesca’s, but there are still certain restrictions on what to wear such as shorts, crop tops, open-back shoes, spaghetti straps, face piercings, etc. etc. etc. When I’m working a shift, I usually wear something that’s comfortable and appropriate but still fun and chic. If you’re in a retail position but need some inspiration on what to wear, here’s one of my favorite go-to looks!

Francesca’s is known for having an array of feminine, trendy, and vibrant style of clothes and accessories. It’s somewhat like a boutique that you would find in the South. The seasonal collections are all simple but still funky and fun! So my go-to outfit is my mock neck tank top (which is actually from Francesca’s), chambray crop pants from Madewell, layered cross necklace from Altar’d State, and laser cut sandal heels (also from Francesca’s!). Of course I have other outfits that I wear for different shifts, but this one definitely fits the style of the brand and is comfy enough for a three to four hour shift!

Fashionably Late To Class

August 6, 2018 Caroline Tullis

Being late to class in sweatpants after rolling out of bed is a bad excuse enough. BUT being late to class in style makes it a little less intimidating! When you show up to class in your hottest outfit, you're too cool for school! But of course, you still need to go to your classes in order to graduate with a degree on time.

For college students, fall semester is just around the corner! I think I have a love-hate relationship with August, specifically because I'm excited for fall but I'm also not ready to say farewell to summer quite yet. While these past few months felt like a blur, I did get to enjoy some much needed sunshine and relaxation. So I'm slowly but surely preparing myself for fall. I don't know about you, but I'm very excited about going back to Kent State for this semester. I already know it's going to be the best one yet and I'm so ready for it!

There's usually one question that pops into a college kid's mind on the first day of classes: what to wear? Let's be honest, we want to look cute but we also want to stay comfortable. Well, I have just about the most helpful style idea!

Since it's still warm outside, it should be safe to wear a casual dress. And when autumn starts creeping in, you can pair it with some cute jackets, scarves, hats, and boots. I'm absolutely adoring my newest addition to my wardrobe: my grey ruched sheath t-shirt dress from Venidress.

I've been looking for a chic and casual summer grey dress for a while, and thankfully I managed to come across Venidress on Instagram. It was on sale for $28.88 (previously $48.86), which is an awesome deal for a pretty dress like this one. I not only love the color and comfiness of it (perfect for a lazy day!), but I love the layered bottom part. It's so sexy and fun for a neutral colored dress!

My knitted cardigan from Urban Outfitters looks extremely cute with this dress, along with my gold layered necklace from Francesca’s and All-Star Converse sneakers. I freaking love this whole outfit, perfect for a long busy day of classes. An outfit like this will surely make you the most stylish student on your campus!

Fashion School (Kent State University)

July 25, 2017 Caroline Tullis

Yep, it's official - I will be transferring to Kent State University in the fall to study fashion merchandising! Of course, I have to get pass all my classes first to determine whether I get into the Fashion School or not, but I have high hopes and I believe I can achieve my goal. I'm just excited to be at Kent State, the campus and school itself is so cool!

As thrilled and ambitious as I feel, it's so difficult to leave Malone University where I've made so many friendships and memories that I'm thankful for and will always cherish. I do believe; however, that God has called me to pursue the dreams He has given me, and I believe going to Kent will help me make those dreams a reality. And my Malone friends and church friends will all only be 20-30 minutes away, so I'll still get to see them as much as I can.

And of course, the best way to celebrate a new beginning in college is to write a new fashion blog post to show my pride! I bought this sweater from Woolly Threads immediately after I committed to attending the university. It's so cozy, cute, and perfect for a college fashionista like me. I know it's summer and it's super hot out right now, but I've already worn it twice! And yes, I did sweat a little ... but it was worth it.

I'm so obsessed with my new tomgirl jeans from American Eagle , they're basically my first pair of super ripped boyfriend jeans which I love. They're comfy, I love the color, and it makes me look fierce as if I just fought off a leopard! Of course, that is a reference to my favorite leopard print loafers from Madewell which I've had for almost four years now and I still love.

But hey, ripped boyfriends jeans are trending and rocking, so it's safe to say that I can now rock them!

I can't wait to see where these next few years take me, whether that would mean helping out with one of the biggest college fashion shows in the US or studying abroad in Italy (or even meet Victoria Beckham at Fashion Week, who knows!) I'm already am awaiting to start this new beginning and I'm going to take every great opportunity that I can find to help me down the road.

I "Kent" wait to finally open the new chapter of my life and take on the fashion industry!
