Red & Black Velvet Embroidery

Happy Monday, y’all! Here’s to another week that hopefully flies by as quick as possible! My spring break this next week, so I for sure want to press fast forward and go to Seattle. I need a freaking break!

This semester has been pretty stressful, I’m not gonna lie. My fashion technology class, to be more specific, has been driving me crazy. There’s literally two projects every week. We are required to use Illustrator and Photoshop, and it’s so damn time consuming! My other classes aren’t that bad, but I still have projects for some of them. I also had two exams two weeks ago that I was overwhelmed by. Thankfully, now that midterms are over and it’s almost spring break, I can breathe a little more. I also have a little more time to finally write more blog posts, like this one that you’re about to read!

Well, you’re technically reading it right now. I’m just referring to my outfit, not my rant about college …

I’ve actually had this shirt for a while now. I bought it back in December when it was on sale at Altar’d State. The red and black velvet embroidery on the sleeves immediately caught my eye. I was a little hestitant at first since it was a week before Christmas, and I didn’t want to buy anything for myself ahead of time. However, one of the employees told me it was buy one get one 40% off, which was perfect since it was already on sale! So I got it and a pair of striped wide-legged pants which were also on sale, so I managed to save some money before Christmas and get some cute clothes in exchange ☺️

I think that this shirt works for any season really. Maybe not summer, it may be too hot to wear then (but chilly summer nights with shorts or a skirt could work!) It’s absolutely one of many favorite shirts, and I’ve been getting so eager to finally post about it. It’s so bold and elegant!

My gold cross layered necklace is also from Altar’d State. It wasn’t on sale when I got it, but it was still a pretty decent price and it was worth it. It’s literally my favorite necklace and I wear it practically all the time. Although I’m a little cautious because I love it, and I don’t want to ruin it or lose it! I also don’t want it to get tangled up, so I don’t travel with it. #necklaceprobz

My go-to pants for this shirt are my American Eagle denim skinny jeans and my go-to shoes are my black high knee boots from Steve Madden. Nothing else can match with it better than these, they make the whole outfit look so chic and modest. I love everything about it!

Are you ready for spring yet? I certainly am, I’ve been ready since December 26th! 😂 Mild temperature, sunshine, and flowers sound great the moment. I just saw the first small purple crocuses of the season bloom in my backyard a few days ago. That’s when I know that springtime is getting closer by the minute. The first official day of spring is only two days from now, we’re almost there!

Straight Outta Hallmark

December 1, 2018 Caroline Tullis

Happy December 1st! We are officially less than 25 days away from the most wonderful day of the year now! Besides my birthday 😉

One of my favorite holiday activities is to watch Christmas movies. I will admit, I’m a sucker for cheesy Hallmark movies. As predictable as they are, it’s nice to watch a cute movie with a happy ending every now and then! And with all the crazy things happening in this world, Hallmark movies definitely can help increase the level of positivity. Especially during Christmastime!

Every Hallmark movie has also the same type of girl, although their personalities are slightly different in every movie. They all have successful jobs, have a love for Christmas, have amazing hairstyles, and of course, own the most stylish wardrobes! For this season, Hallmark has influenced me to embrace Christmas the same way as those other girls. My favorite holiday dress right now is this beautiful red lace short dress from Altar’d State. It totally reminds me of a dress that one off the Hallmark leading ladies would wear. It’s so stunning, elegant, and bold. Red is my favorite color and perfect for this time of year. I’ve already gotten so many compliments from wearing this!

Altar’d State is my favorite retailer to shop from at the moment. It’s like an upgraded Christian version of Francesca’s (which is also another favorite of mine). They have the cutest collections of outfits, jewelry pieces, and home decor as well. It’s a bit expensive, but practically every item is worth the purchase. The best part is that a portion of sales get donated to local communities on Mondays. Stand out for good!

By the way, this post is NOT sponsored. I just love Altar’d State so much. But someday I would definitely love to collaborate with them if I get the opportunity!

Autumn's Palette

November 14, 2018 Caroline Tullis

I’m currently trying to sink in the fact that were halfway through November and Christmas is just around the corner. I’m also trying to sink in the fact that we’re less than fifty days away from 2019. That’s just so crazy, where the hell did time go?!

With that being said, I’m trying to soak in and enjoy what’s left of autumn while it lasts. Pretty soon all the colorful leaves aka autumn’s palette (hence the title of this post) are going to be covered in slushy cold snow for the next six months. And once Thanksgiving is over, I’ll be in full Christmas mode and ready to deck the halls. But before I decorate the tree and sip hot chocolate while watching Hallmark movies, I need to embrace the beauty of fall a little more!

My favorite sweater for fall right now is this olive nubby pullover from Altar’d State. I bought it back in August and as soon as I tried it on in the dressing room, I was like, “I have to get this!” I love the warm material, the bulky raglan sleeves, and the olive color is perfect for fall. It’s so cozy, I feel like I’m wrapped up in a soft blanket every time I wear it! It’s definitely one of those sweaters you absolutely cannot resist.

I have also been loving my black ripped leggings from American Eagle and my black faux leather fur backless mules from Target. I’m totally obsessed with the shoes especially. They’re super chic, super comfy, and the slip-on construction makes it easy to slip on and off. They’re definitely worth the $25 mark! I’m trying to wear them as much as I can before the first snowstorm hits and tries to ruin them! And as for the black jeggings, you can never go wrong with them. They’re perfect and so comfortable, I could wear them everyday if I could!

I also wanna give a big shoutout to my girl Alex Stevens for the super fun photoshoot, despite how cold it was outside! She’s a photography GENIUS! Go follow her and her aesthetic photography on IG: @asteve05
