Early Finds for Black Friday and Cyber Monday

Happy Wednesday, y’all!

Okay, how is it November already?! Didn’t 2021 start yesterday?! It sure feels like it did! I seriously believe the years start to fly by by even faster the older I get. One moment it’s January 1st and then BAM! It’s already the holiday season aka end of the year!

In all seriousness though, I’m very excited for the holidays. I love this time of year, enjoying the beauty of fall and then celebrating two of my favorite days of the year with the ones I love most. Nothing beats family gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas, that’s for sure! Not only are the two biggest holidays approaching but also the biggest shopping days … Black Friday and Cyber Monday!

This year, I decided to do a research ahead of time and find some items that currently peak my interest (as well as trying to avoid adding anything to my online shopping carts lol)- and I thought that I’d share them with y’all today for anyone needing any ideas for themselves! Feel free to take a look at my widget lookbook 😉

Happy shopping, y’all!

9 Non-Scary Movies to Watch for Halloween

Does anyone love watching scary movies to celebrate Halloween and actually enjoy getting scared? Because I don’t … AT ALL 😂 Anytime a friend or relative even mentions the idea of watching one, I would much rather go to bed early or sit in my room alone and watch funny and lighthearted content, lol. Honestly, you couldn’t even pay me to watch a horror film because I will have nightmares for at least two years!

Since I mentioned my disliking of scary movies, you probably wouldn’t be surprised to know that Halloween is not one of my favorite holidays, despite how much I love fall. However, just because it’s not my favorite holiday does not mean I won’t celebrate it. I just prefer the cute and lighthearted spooky things over the gorey and monstrous things!

So if you’re anything like me and still want to get in the Halloween spirit, grab a cup of hot apple cider or a glass of wine (if you’re 21 or older!) and some of these favorite spooky yet family-friendly movies!

Halloweentown

As a late 90s/early 2000’s kid who grew up during Disney Channel’s prime time, this one is definitely the perfect cult-classic for spooky season in my book! It’s so timeless, nostalgic, and family-friendly so that no one is left out. St. Helens in Oregon, where the original was filmed, transforms into the actual location every Halloween, which is something I’m definitely praying to see in-person myself one day!

Hocus Pocus

Another one of Disney’s beloved Halloween films! I’m not actually the biggest fan of this movie unlike most people, but I’m definitely not gonna say no if someone suggests watching it! Especially if it’s between that or a horror movie 😂

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

As a big Harry Potter fan, this is for sure a must-watch on my list, as well as reading the book which has its own chapter dedicated to Halloween!

It’s the Great Big Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Honestly if you didn’t watch this at least once in your youthful years, did you even have a childhood?

Monsters, Inc.

Even though it’s not necessarily a Halloween movie per say, it’s good enough to watch with the whole family for the holiday!

Ghostbusters

Not gonna lie, this movie did scare me when I was a little kid 😂 But now I definitely am not opposed to watching it as an adult, and I actually enjoy it since it’s more of a comedy than a scary movie. Besides, what horror films have their own catchy theme song? There’s also a brand new Ghostbusters movie coming out right before Thanksgiving (and a lot of the OG actors are coming back for it!), so you can get ready by watching the first two for Halloween!

Twitches

Another Disney Channel classic. Anything starring the Mowry twins is bound to be magical!

The Legend of Sleepy Hallow (Disney version)

Though it’s not a full-length movie but rather a segment from Walt Disney’s 1949 package film The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, this is definitely a fun one to watch during spooky season. Bing Crosby’s version of “The Headless Horseman” is so timeless and catchy!

Tyler Perry’s Madea Halloween

If you need something more along the lines of humorous over horrifying along with Ghostbusters, this recent movie is definitely the perfect comedy to help you laugh out loud than scream in terror!

There’s something for everybody! All these songs make me feel nostalgic and remind me of summer nights spent at a cookout or around a bonfire while hanging out with friends and relatives. Those are definitely some of my happiest memories and something I most look forward to every summer 🧡

Favorite Candles for Spring

IMG_1033.jpeg

I don’t know about y’all, but nothing makes me more happy about springtime than fresh scents. Walking into a florist, sweet treats, outdoor grass after winter fades away, and of course, candles!

I feel like candles are more popular and used for the fall and winter seasons because of the cozy vibe it gives off, but that doesn’t make spring and summer candles any less special! Honestly, when March finally arrives, something I absolutely look forward to besides warmer weather is lighting an aroma with a lovely floral scent in the house! Plus, springtime is sometimes deceiving here in Ohio as some days it randomly decides to snow 🤣

Anyway, getting to the point, I wanna share the springtime candles I’ve been loving lately with y’all!

1.) Lavender Vanilla

This is one of the spring candles that we’re currently selling at Francesca’s, originally made by DW Home Candles. To be honest, I never would’ve imagined the idea of lavender being combined with vanilla. But put the two scents together and you create a scent from heaven. Every time I’m at work, I can’t stop smelling it when I’m not busy on the floor or at the register lol! Plus, the jar is so pretty and has a beautiful watercolor artwork!

2.) Freesia Lily

Once again, another candle made by DW Home Candles and being sold at Francesca’s! I personally like the lavender vanilla one, but this one definitely has more of a floral scent! It also comes in a decorative jar and contains lily, musk, white floral, citrus, jasmine, and much more!

3.) Rose Water

I’m honestly convinced that rose water is one of my all-time favorite scents, no matter what season. I love how the jar it comes in is actually more simple (as most rose water candles come in a pinkish tone) and that it’s soy blended! It certainly is a smell that brings me peace no matter what 💕

4.) Lilac & Iris

Lilac is one of my mom’s favorite scents, and I bought this candle for her as soon as I saw it! They have a very fresh and sweet scent, and probably my favorite one out of all flowers. It mixes really well with the iris and creates spring in a jar. Plus, this specific candle is now on clearance for only $6.98!

5.) Wick Citrus Peony

Finally, a candle not from Francesca’s! 🤣 Target does have a fantastic selection of candles for every season, I honestly recommend them all! When it comes to springtime though, you can never go wrong with a fresh peony scent mixed with citrus. Strong but mostly sweet and peaceful!

6.) A Sunday Painter (Scarlet Citrus)

Though I’m an absolute sucker for Anthro’s capri blue candles, you honestly can’t go wrong with this one when the mild weather starts kicking in. Plus, the glass paint and art on the jars are STUNNING! It’s like looking at stained glass windows inside a church! 😍

I also recommend checking out Bath & Body Works for spring-themed candles! I was too overwhelmed to pick even a few to share on here because they’re all just so amazing ☺️ Definitely go to a local one nearby and try out the scents to see which ones you like best!

My Top Favorite Wines

Happy Wine Wednesday, friends!

If the pandemic and quarantine showed me one good thing, it would be how much my knowledge in different wines has increased 🤣 I’m definitely not exaggerating when I say my family and I drank a lot of wine during our time in lockdown LOL! I mean, what else was there to do? Ever since I turned 21, I’ve definitely grew a liking for wine, both red, white and the occasional rosé! I think especially coming from an Italian family it only makes sense that it becomes a favorite beverage to have every now and then. I’m no expert, but I do love how each type tastes so uniquely and experimenting them with certain foods, as well as having a good time with loved ones! Benjamin Franklin once quoted, “Wine is constant proof that God loves us and loves to see us happy.” Ironically, my mom has a stemless wine glass with that exact quote!

So since it’s now been over a year since the pandemic started (that’s so weird to say!), here are some of my favorite wines and brands!

Cabernet

When we’re having a night in with the family, there’s always going to be a bottle of Cabernet! It’s definitely my favorite red wine. It’s very rich and perfect for any season or holiday throughout the year. It’s also a great combo with heartier meals including steak, pasta, pizza, and lamb chops! Here are my top two favs:

Josh Cellars ($14) - This bottle is always my family and I’s go-to. It’s cheap and it’s delicious!

Joel Gott ($20.99) - We don’t get this one as often as we get Josh Cellars, but it’s still very tasty and has that same bitter yet richness to the texture!

Merlot

This red wine is somewhat similar to Cabernet, but is more soft and smooth. I like having a good glass of Merlot every now and then, especially with a juicy burger and fries! Here are my top two favs:

Turning Leaf ($9.99) - I tried this wine at a recent dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse and I really liked it. I had it with the grilled lamb chops and a side of french fries. I was so full afterwards lol, but it was so divine and one of the best dinner meals I’ve had in a while!

Crane Lake ($9.99) - My one roommate’s dad brings this bottle to our apartment to drink during our watch parties of The Bachelor! I’m not a big fan of the show, but as long as I have an excuse to have a glass of wine then I’m good 😂

Chardonnay

Chardonnay all the way, y’all! I LOVE a good glass of this type of white wine. It honestly has to be my favorite of all wines and my go-to for any occasion. When it comes to white wine, I prefer it to be oaky and slightly bitter but still a little sweet, which is what makes Chardonnay meet my standards! Here are my top two favs:

Sea Sun California ($27.99) - It’s been a while since I’ve had this one and I honestly can’t remember where I had it at, but I had to write the name of it down in the notes on my phone because it’s THAT good! It’s a little more on the pricy side, but if you love oaky Chardonnay and are willing to pay for it, I definitely recommend trying it out!

Chateau Ste Michelle ($13.99) - This is my go-to Chardonnay when I’m trying to stay on a budget but still want to enjoy the oaky and buttery taste. The company that makes it has a wide variety of good wines and is one of the oldest yet best wineries in America!

Sauvignon Blanc

Though I’m far more of a Chardonnay girl, Sauvignon Blanc is definitely a second runner-up for white wine in my book. Its grapes are less ripe and is a little less heavy, which is perfect if that’s more of your preference! Here are my top two favs:

Josh Cellars ($17.99) - Another favorite by Josh Cellars! It’s one of their more pricer wines, but still worth tasting!

Kim Crawford ($15) - This one contains a lot of flavorful fruity ingredients. Very good with a charcuterie board!

Rosé

To be honest, I’m not the biggest rosé fan. I mostly just like the fact that it’s pink and I have a reason to put “rosé all day” in the caption of an Instagram post 🤣 However, I do enjoy the sweet taste of it every now and then! Here are my top two favs:

Sutter Home ($7.99) - One of my cousins sent a mini bottle of this to me when she asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. I absolutely loved it, so much so that I got a bottle to celebrate my 24th birthday with my friends!

Yes Way, Rosé ($18) - A friend of mine got me a bottle of this when I turned 23. Not only is the label super cute, but it’s also super tasty. Try it with dessert!

Favorite Wineries In Northeast Ohio

For any of you wine lovers out in the NE area of the Buckeye State, be sure to check out these amazing wineries!

Wine Glasses & Decanter

For my graduation from Kent State this past fall, my sister and brother-in-law got me these beautiful lustered stemless wine glasses from Anthropologie to use for my post-college apartment or home. I’m absolutely obsessed with these, they’re definitely one of the best gifts I’ve ever received! Anthropologie also has a collection of lustered glasses with stems and they’re definitely a bestseller as well!

If you like to get super fancy, my mom has this amazing wine decanter from Crate & Barrel which is used for special occasions and holidays, typically for Cabernet or other red wines. This is definitely gonna be on my wedding registry someday, I absolutely love it!

What are you favorite wines? Are you more of a red wine drinker or white wine drinker? Comment below and share!

Salute, y’all! 🍷

College In A Nutshell

IMG_0514.jpeg

It’s hard to believe that it’s been over a month since I graduated from Kent State. For a while, it didn’t feel real! But now that winter break is over and college students are going back to classes, it kind of hit me. To be honest though, I’m pretty relieved that I never have to do homework or stress out about classes again! Through it all, I was fortunate enough to attend two amazing schools (Malone University and Kent State University), serve in a college women’s ministry, study abroad a whole month, receive a degree in a major and minor that I’m super passionate about (fashion merchandising/public relations), and graduate during a global pandemic!

College has (so far) been one of the best times of my life! I’m no doubt going to be looking back on all the memories I’ve made later in life, as well as reflect on the good times with my college friends during future reunions. Heck, I’m already reflecting on the memories and good times, and it’s only been a month since graduation! So instead of feeling gloomy about being officially done with it, I decided it would be fun to look back on my experience and share some highs and lows over the past five years!

Highs of College

1.) Being able to experience life at a big public university and a small private university

I remember starting off at Malone University and loving it, but also wondering what it would have been like to attend a public university. I absolutely enjoyed the private school life, especially since it was a nondenominational Christian university, but I’m truly glad that I later on transferred to Kent for more opportunities with my passions and to serve on campus. Looking back now, I’m so grateful I got to experience attending both a private university and a public university. I will never have to wonder what it was like either way!

2.) Being a leader for Delight Ministries (in two different chapters!)

I originally found out about Delight after transferring to Kent, at the time it wasn’t on campus and the University of Akron had the closest chapter available. My two friends and later on roommates, Katie and Abby, let me come with them to check it out and I absolutely fell in love. I was longing for a Christian community filled with women around my age who had a heart for Jesus and a desire to share His love with others, as well as to use the gifts and passions He’s blessed us with to make an impact on His kindgom. A year and a half later, I joined the Akron chapter’s leadership team and ran their social media platforms. A year after that, Katie, Abby and I felt called to bring a chapter to Kent and now we have over 100 girls following our Instagram account and newsletter! If anything, Delight Ministries not only made a huge impact on my college experience but also my whole life in general. When I look back on my memories in college, Delight will definitely be one of the first ones that pop up!

3.) Attending one of the top fashion schools in the nation and world

Kent’s fashion program was definitely the leading factor as to why I chose to transfer, as well as it was closer to my hometown and tuition is a bit cheaper compared to Malone. I will be honest when I say that being a fashion student is definitely not as glamorous as it may seem, and there were definitely many times I considered changing my major (Introduction to Fashion Technology especially tested me 🤣). However, it was all worth it in the end and it truly made me realize my passion for the industry and styling. I’m proud to say I had the privilege to attend one of the top fashion schools in the nation and world!

4.) Studying abroad for a whole month

I remember how nervous I was about the idea of living abroad for a whole month on my own, but I absolutely enjoyed every single moment of it. Taking classes in Italy was an amazing once in a lifetime opportunity that I will forever be grateful for! I got to have a much better understanding of the culture and my major, as well as explore practically the whole country. It was so incredible and I can’t wait to go back once it’s safe to travel abroad again!

5.) Living on campus

Okay, technically at Kent, I lived off campus in an apartment, but it was still super close which is basically the same thing! The best part about it was gaining independence and confidence while learning to live on your own, as well as living with four other amazing women! I love them to the moon and back, and there’s a good chance we’ll all live in a cul de sac when we’re all married and have kids someday!

BONUS: Seeing John Mulaney perform stand-up live

In November 2018, comedian John Mulaney came to campus right after Thanksgiving break to do some stand-up. I had watched his Kid Gorgeous at Radio City special on Netflix and I became a huge fan of his around that same time, so my friends and I bought tickets as soon as we found out he was coming! It was one of the funniest shows I have ever been to, and I will never forget all the hilarious jokes he made about Kent and Ohio and how hard I was laughing. I’ll be jealous if he ever comes back now that I’m no longer a student!

Lows Of College

1.) Being away from my family and dog

Though I fell in love with college and it became my new home, that didn’t change my sorrow that came with being away from my family and my lovable pooch Max. I will say that having time apart does making seeing them a lot more sweet and special. Thankfully, only Malone was a 30 minute drive and Kent State was only 15 minutes, so I could go home and visit practically anytime I desired a home-cooked meal and to cuddle with Max in my own bed!

Maximus Bo Tullis ❤️

2.) GenEd courses …

Honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever understand why exactly college students have to take GenEd courses, other than the fact that the university is just trying to get more money from us. My grandpa and I always talk about this issue and how annoying it is. I consider it a miracle that I was able to pass my statistics class!

3.) Parking services at Kent State :/

Honestly, the whole parking system at Kent is rigged. I could be parked at a coffee shop for only five minutes just so I can grab a latte and I have a $35 ticket on my car’s window! No joke, I actually witnessed someone’s car getting towed at Starbucks, and they probably weren’t parked there for that long to begin with! I truly feel like Kent’s parking services are a lot harder on students than other college campuses, which I think is pretty messed up. Hopefully they change the system and give out less tickets for the sake of other students!

4.) How fast it goes

When people told me how fast time goes when you’re in college, they weren’t kidding! It’s SO hard to believe it’s already over and I’m actually a college GRAD. I feel like I was just getting done with high school and preparing for the next chapter of my life. It’s crazy how these milestones fly by so fast over a big chunk of years. So if you’re getting ready to start college or are already in it, enjoy every single moment! I know you probably hear that a lot already, but it’s so true! This is such a unique time in your life when you grow and learn so much about yourself, so don’t take it for granted!

Gift Guide for Valentine's Day

Hello, loves! Valentine’s Day is exactly one month away, and I thought it would be helpful to share this gift guide with y’all for fun ideas!

Though Valentine’s Day isn’t as big of a gift holiday as Christmas or someone’s birthday, there’s still is a lot of thought and creativity that goes into it when getting something for your partner or spouse. I remember being in elementary school and when we would get boxes full of sweet cards from every student with kind messages and compliments, it was something I definitely enjoyed. I honestly wish we could still do stuff like that in adulthood! Though this year I don’t have a partner to get a gift for, I think it’s still fun to share ideas like these, which are also good for parents, siblings, friends or other relatives as a way to let them know how much you care about them!

After doing a little research, I believe these gift ideas listed above would be PERFECT for that special someone, female or male! The heart-shaped necklace, measuring spoons, and cast iron are so cute and fun with the holiday, and usable for all year round! I absolutely love the idea of the fondue set, especially if you’re planning to stay in for your date night! Nothing says I love you more than cheese and chocolate fondue! Speaking of chocolate, I found these boxes of champagne truffles that are very popular and bestsellers around the holiday, so it made sense to include them in the gift guide. I’ve never actually had them, but they sound delicious. So if you end up getting them, let me know if they’re worth the purchase! The ceramic blessings jar might be my personal favorite. I think it’s such a sweet idea to use it as a way to count your blessings and remember what you’re grateful for. Altar’d State also has a really cute one for $24.00! The coffee mug warmer is also a really nice idea for that coffee lover who’s always warming their mug up but might be tired of using the microwave constantly. Even if they don’t like coffee, it’s great for tea, hot chocolate, apple cider and other hot beverages! Lately, I’ve been loving rose water scents, which is why I think this candle from Target makes a great little gift. It also has a touch of peony in it, and can be used when springtime comes along! Lastly, the Fire Starter Stay Matte lip liquid is my current favorite red lipstick, which is perfect for any gal who loves a little pop of vibrance, especially for a holiday with red as a signature color ❤️

What are y’all’s plans for Valentine’s this year? Or Galentine’s? Or both? Comment below and share with me!
