Halloween 2016

I hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween! I didn't do too much, considering Halloween is not one of my top favorite holidays. Most of my friends went to haunted houses and watched scary movies while I just chilled aside. I kind of regretted not doing anything this year, however, because I've been seeing so many cute costume ideas that I wish I could've tried out when I had the chance, which you can check out at 10 DIY Halloween Costume Ideas. However, I managed this past weekend to fit it at least one idea, and that of course is Hollywood legend and fashion icon Audrey Hepburn!

If you've read most of my blog posts before, you most definitely know that Audrey Hepburn is one of my favorite celebrities to have existed. She was one of my top ideas for a Halloween costume, and probably the easiest one to pull off. Of course, I dressed like her character Holly Golightly from one of her most famous movies: Breakfast at Tiffany's!

Audrey Hepburn is the one who made the LBD (Little Black Dress) iconic and what it is in the present fashion world. Though this LBD from Calvin Klein isn't technically "little", it's still elegant and definitely a dress that Audrey would have rocked her in days!

DSC_0981.jpg

To make the costume for stylish and 60's, I used my black high heels from J. Crew and cat eye sunglasses from Ann Taylor, two stores which Audrey would most definitely shop at if she were still alive!

The other accessories I included were a long pearl necklace, diamond earrings, long white gloves (I couldn't find black ones), and to top off, a tiny diamond tiara to fit on my updo. I felt like a princess, I didn't even to win homecoming or prom queen to receive it! Ironically, Audrey played a princess in Roman Holiday!

And of course, like Holly, I needed a fancy cigarette holder as a prop! Don't worry, it wasn't real and I don't actually smoke ...

And of course, we can't forget to pose like the iconic headshot!

I hope this costume idea was helpful for anyone looking for a costume next year or for a belated Halloween party this weekend.

Happy Halloween, darlings!

Fall Fever

Finally, it's sweater (vest) weather!

I just had the best fall break! I didn't do a whole lot, but that sometimes is the best type of break. I slept in every morning, I ate healthier (cause you know college food), went shopping, saw Keeping Up With The Joneses (surprisingly very funny!), and of course spent a great quality time with my family and friends from my hometown. I was exhausted from midterm exams and doing homework all the time, so a four day break was very necessary. And plus, it gave me more time to write this blog post!

When my mom and I went shopping, I bought a few new clothes and I am eager to share them, I think they are just perfect for fall. And of course, what's a fall fashion photoshoot without pumpkins and everything fall-related?!

The first part of my outfit I want to share are my new pair of light blue ripped mom jeans from Anthropologie. They're perfectly slim and high-waisted, and they are so comfy! At first, when I tried them on, I thought they are a bit tight, but aren't all jeans like that at first? After a while, they became more easy to put on and now I can last throughout the entire day without feeling one bit uncomfortable. I also finally have a pair of jeans that are more ripped, so that makes me very happy!

Everything at Anthropologie is twenty percent off at the moment, so it's best to buy these jeans as soon as possible!

My shoes, actually technically my mom's shoes, are designed by Børn and can be bought from Nordstrom. They are so comfy and chic, I'm going to have a can a pair for myself that I can wear all the time. Mom jeans and shoes worn by my mom, it's definitely obvious where I get my fashion sense from.

Of course, I have to prepare for the chilly weather with a black long sleeve shirt from Target (designed by Merona), a black choker necklace from Francesca's, Ray Bay half frames from Sunglass Hut, and my new favorite gray sweater vest from Apple Tree. The vest is probably one of my new favorite fashion pieces for fall. I love how long it is and the soft material it has. It looks great with shirts, pants and dresses. Plus, it has pockets!

Fall is a beautiful and pleasant time of the year that must be cherished every second as the leaves continue to fall and pumpkins continue to grow. When you have the chance, go on a beautiful fall hike or go to a farm and pick some of the best pumpkins to carve or eat. Also, find that one outfit, whether dressy or comfy, that makes you feel confident, lovely, and expresses the beauty of fall and what it means to you.

Make sure to bundle up though, it's getting cold out there!

10 Best Looks at the Emmys

Did anyone watch the Emmy Awards this past weekend? I watched it, for a little bit. I got to see a few of my favorite celebrities present and win, but it was mostly the following day I decided to catch up to all the buzz from the show. I don't want to spread any rumors, but it has it that quite many famed human beings managed to slay the red carpet big time!

I almost didn't write this blog for my Tuesday Ten, but then I realized all the other award show posts from earlier this year. That made me realize that I should continue these types of posts, especially for readers who enjoy reading about fashion and celebrities. So for my top ten weekly picks, here are my favorites from the Emmy Awards red carpet:

1.) Priyanka Chopra

One word: FLAWLESS! Just look at the color and the way the bottom piece twirls, it's so lovely! It seriously looks like something you would see in a beauty product commercial or magazine! It's both an elegant and playful look, and her red lipstick makes the look even more stunning. She definitely dominated the red carpet big time!

Designed by: Jason Wu

2.) Emilia Clarke

Other than scoring three golden statuettes, she totally scored the red carpet with an elegant peachy gown. She certainly proved to be a champion with her fashion sense and talents, you go girl!

Designed by: Atelier Versace

3.) Holly Taylor

You may by now know that I have a thing for white dresses, and not just because they remind me of weddings. I think it's a beautiful color, especially in dresses on the red carpet. I love the goddess look along with the sparkly neckline, shoes, and elegant updo twist. Bright and bold.

4.) Kristen Bell

Floral designs in a ballgown? Hell yes indeed! It looks like Mother Nature arrived into Hollywood!

Designed by: Zuhair Murad

5.) Michelle Dockery

I happen to find this dress very well interesting. The fabric material looks frozen thick and manages to stay still even as she makes different poses and struts. I definitely love the black and white color combination, very classic. Michelle pulls off this fashion statement tremendously perfect, especially with her gorgeous dark hair.

Designed by: Oscar del la Rena

6.) Claire Danes

Claire Danes never fails to stun the red carpet, just like earlier this year when she wore a beautiful light-up Cinderella ballgown. And now she's going for a more Belle look with a dazzling golden gown. She literally glowed from head to toe, including her beautiful blonde locks!

Designed by: Elsa Schiaparelli

7.) Sarah Hyland

It seems as though Emma Watson's look at this year's Met Gala inspired many! It sure is a sexy and classy look, and Sarah Hyland certainly proves that with this outfit design. I also love how the light top splits into two parts and flows toward the floor, super graceful. I hope to see more looks with pants like this for more red carpet events!

Designed by: Monique Lhuillier

8.) Felicity Huffman

I love the shimmery and floral design of the gown. It looks like something Kate Middleton would wear, perfectly fit for royalty!

Designed by: Tony Ward

9.) Ellie Kemper

I just think this lady is absolutely adorable, I mean look at her! Her fiery hair matches well with the simple mustard yellow gown, along with her super down to earth attitude. What's not to love about her?!

Designed by: Jenny Packham

10.) Kerry Washington

To pull off a baby bump in a black cutout is very bold, definitely attracts the paparazzi's attention. The September cover InStyle magazine woman look marvelous and brave when entering the awards ceremony, her confidence totally adds beauty to her look. I also how well she can pull off a perm, she looks fabulous!

10 Best Dressed at Teen Choice Awards

Halt, it's the Fashion Police! But don't worry, we (meaning I) have good results today!

I don't watch the Teen Choice Awards anymore, but that does not stop me from keeping updated with the red carpet and show. Just like the Oscars and Golden Globes, I like to check out the amazing fashion worn by popular celebrities that leave the paparazzi mesmerized and online journalists gossiping. I find seeing some of my favorite celebs in drop dead beautiful outfits made by amazing designers as an enjoyable hobby, and that's one of the reasons why I want to jump into fashion journalism as a career.

So in case you did or did not watch the Teen Choice Awards this past weekend, here are my top ten picks for best dressed and favorite looks!

1.) Lea Michele

I love the black and white crop top and long skirt look, both designed by Self-Portrait. The light pink classy heels, glossy hair and glamorous makeup combined with the outfit bring some flirt floral fun to the red carpet.

2.) Jessica Alba

Another crop top to match with long pants, with a color palette consisting of all black. Her simple hairstyle looks amazing with the outfit! And her pointy manicure, hot girl damn!

3.) Victoria Justice

When hosting a big show like the Teen Choice Awards, it's a good idea to have more than one outfit like Victoria. There were various clothing pieces that she wowed in that it's hard to pick just one favorite. I would say the most stunning fashion piece of hers was the Versace artsy dress, black strappy stilettos, and braided hairband crown. I thought that indeed looked very gorgeous and summery. Here are some of her stage outfits she slayed in during her hostess duties alongside host John Cena.

I'm also dying to get personal tips from Victoria on how she always make her smoky brown eye makeup look on point!

4.) Kat Graham

I find unique to be bold at times. I really liked this white dress with some colorful lollipop-looking designs and crystal heels to match. I'm not the biggest fan of latex outfits, but I think the rubber texture of the dress looks super stylish.

5.) Kelsea Ballerini

Even if it's not a wedding, pure white dresses always remind me of Cinderella. It's a very elegant color, and the design of this dress looks quite sophisticated and has a princess-like look to it with the tulip bottom piece. Also the messy ponytail, dark burgundy lipstick, and strappy gold heels wounded up to the calves give the outfit a bit of a vampy look.

6.) Chanel Iman

Once again, another crop top look to fall in love with! She looks like a flawless goddess in this cream colored knit top and shiny long skirt, which has a sexy detail with the cut out for her leg to stick out. Plus, her dark skin tones goes very well with the light colored outfit.

7.) Sarah Hyland

She perfectly stands out in an electric blue dress with red floral details, along with an electric blue clutch and strappy sandals to match. I also love how her short wavy bob is pulled to the side to make the look even more electrifying.

8.) Lucy Hale

Summer may be coming to an end, but Lucy brings the reason back to the beginning in this muted halter dress that looks both light an airy. I also love how she goes for silver sandals instead of heels. No better time to wear this than to a summer award show!

9.) Candace Cameron Bure

She's still ranks in the top 90's TV crushes for both boys and girls! The black and silver make a perfect color for this long-sleeve romper and black strappy stilettos.

10.) Brooke Burke

Pretty in pink! Nothing calls for a fun summer more than a pink crop top jumpsuit with funky jewelry, beachy hair, open-toed shoes, and a floral clutch. You might as well be called Princess Peach!

BONUS: John Stamos

Because why not? He's a total stud, especially at fifty! He never fails to bring back a little Grease lightning from the rocker decades to our generation. Keep on rocking your hunky style, Uncle Jessie!

Chi-Town Lady

"Jump In" To The City

Chicago is a more classy-vernon of New York City. And the crowds are more small, so it's even more fun and easy to stand out. This summer, I have been a little obsessed with jumpsuits. I'm not because I want to follow the trend, but because I think it is a type of outfit that can be worn creatively and is perfect to stand out in, especially in a city like Chi-Town.

I've owned my own jumpsuit before, and thankfully I found the perfect one at Anthropologie. I love the material and design. The pants of the suit are wide enough to be comfy while walking or sitting. Also you can wear it with the straps or strapless, it's very great for classy or casual events.

If you're wearing a strapless jumpsuit, a necklace will look glamorous. If it's strapless like the way I'm wearing it (it's a little hard to tell with my long hair), than I would say no to the necklace and yes to chandelier earrings!

What I love most about this jumpsuit is that I kind of feel like Sandy Olsson from Grease. Speak of the devil, it's a good thing I have a black leather jacket to go with it!

It's summertime, so sandals are highly acceptable. These wedges from Nordstrom match the navy and gray colors of the jumpsuit very well.

Uptown Girl

Not all parts of Chicago are extremely classy, just so you know. Wicker Park (an uptown neighborhood) is not as urban as downtown. However, it's a very hip and fun area to go visit, it's not a dirty ghetto area. So I thought an outfit that is a little more hip-looking would be appropriate for a casual pizza dinner.

My long-sleeve crop top is from Urban Outfitters, which I bought while in California. To keep the outfit a little more sophisticated, I match it with my button front denim skirt from Target. Because these skirts have become such a big trend this summer, I had to get one for myself! The shirt and skirt together create a very hip and urban style that looks good uptown or downtown.

Of course, we can't forget these sporty chic All-Star Converse sneakers from Macy's!

Any type of accessory works well with the style of this outfit. Less or more, it brings a lot of character to your fashion. My one major jewelry piece that makes the outfit dazzle is this pebble stone necklace from Francesca's. It has the perfect flair of femininity to go with a more casual outfit, almost like her royal highness undercover as a city resident!

California Girl

The more I see or hear the word "California", the more I wish I was back in paradise. My mom and I are already talking about what we want to do the next time we visit the Golden State (hint: Disneyland is in the top ranks!) I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to visit one of my favorite places for our summer vacation, and I am already looking forward to the next adventure.

California is known to have over 87,000 jobs in the fashion industry, even surpassing New York's fashion district workforce. Los Angeles is one of the biggest cities that has inspired "California-cool" fashion trends throughout the world. When packing for the trip, my first thoughts were what outfits would be perfect to share on the blog. So here are two of my best outfits from the trip!

California Dreamin'

Mid-length maxi dresses and the beachy atmosphere make a perfect combo. California is the perfect place to wear a maxi dress all year round. Luckily I bought this flounce lace dress from Anthropologie at the beginning of June, just in time for the trip. I love the elegance of this dress, it almost looks more cocktail-like but still great for casual occasions. It has a confident statement for the girl in the outfit and leaves onlookers in wonder. It's also perfect for both summer and winter, you can easily get a lot of use out of it.

Since the outfit is a simple black, you can go all out with accessories. I picked my feather-like chandelier earrings from Francesca's, Alex and Ani bracelets, Lokai bracelets, and a turquoise stretch bead bracelet (similar to a Lokai).

Finally, what is a sunny vacation without sandals?! Here is a pair of my two-year old jeweled snake sandals from Dillard's. Thankfully I had nail polish to match the jewels and cover up my toe nails!

The best part, palm trees make a perfect background!

Sun's Out, Shorts Out

I don't really like adding too much detail to my fashion blogs, so I'll try to keep this one as "short" as possible.

Shorts, tanks, and flip flops are an obvious must for an eighty-degree adventure. These white sailor shorts and black pocket shell tank top, both from the LOFT, together form a sophisticated summer gal look. Add some accessories including Ray Ban half-frames, a bar necklace, watch, bracelets, an Italian handbag, and easy-to-walk-in flip flops and you'll be fashionably ready to explore!

Still in search for some clothing items for your summer essential list? There is still plenty of time! Check out some links below from my outfit picks to find your own pair of summer fun outfits!
