10 Best Dressed at the Oscars

Happy Tuesday, y’all!

Who watched the Oscars this past Sunday?? I certainly did, it’s the biggest night in Hollywood! It’s like my version of the Super Bowl! I’m gonna be honest though, I was a little concerned as to how they were gonna pull it off without a host. It seems almost impossible to have a big awards show without a host, whether they’re super famous or not as famous. However, I was surprised. It turned out to be very entertaining, and not very controversial as far as I’m concerned!

My favorite parts of the night were Adam Lambert and Queen paying tribute to Bohemian Rhapsody, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper performing “Shallows”, Keegan-Michael Key descending from the ceiling like Mary Poppins, John Mulaney and Awkwafina awkwardly but hilariously presenting together, and Regina King’s beautiful speech. But honestly, nothing beats watching celebrities glam in up on the red carpet in beautiful fashion statements! It’s so exciting to see who’s wearing what and how well they can pull it off. I’m pleased to say I was very impressed this year. It was hard to choose only ten favorite looks for this blog post, there were so many that I really liked!

With that being said, here is my list of top ten best dressed at the Oscars!

1.) Constance Wu

I’m OBSESSED with that dress! Not many people can pull off a bright yellow, but Constance sure can! I’m totally getting Belle vibes, which I’m all for 💛

2.) Laura Harrier

This is very simple yet elegant all at once. I love the light blue shade, as well as the sparkly embroidery and jewelry. I also like her hot pink nails and blue eyeshadow. Laura looked absolutely gorgeous!

3.) Jennifer Hudson

I’m a sucker red dresses. It’s my favorite color and there’s many different red gowns that are stunning, especially this one worn by Jennifer Hudson. I love the ruffle sash and how one arm has a long sleeve and the other is strapless, it’s so unique and chic. She slays, both on the red carpet and on stage with her dynamite voice!

4.) Brie Larson

Brie’s silver dress and platinum blonde locks make a perfect style combo. Seeing her in this sparkly gown just makes me even more excited to see Captain Marvel in less than two weeks … this woman is a warrior in the Marvel Cinematic Universe AND the fashion industry!!

5.) Regina King

Not only did she give a beautiful acceptance speech (God certainly is good all the time 🙌🏻), but she looked stunningly beautiful in her white dress! I love the graceful train of the dress that flows perfectly, as well as the matching white pumps. This actually reminds me of a white prom dress I wore junior year to my prom, which is why it definitely makes my list for top favorite looks!

6.) Ashley Graham

Ashley Graham is one of my role models, so obviously I had to include her. It’s not even just her kindness and strong attitude that I love about her, but also her amazing fashion sense. This look is so timeless and elegant. The long black mermaid dress makes her look so glamorous, and even more with the beautiful diamond choker necklace fit for a queen because Ashley is always a killer queen!

7.) Jennifer Lopez

I just have to ask … how is this woman almost fifty-years old? She looks like she could be in her early thirties! She’s one of the few people of her age that can pull off this ravishing, chic dress. I’m not gonna lie though, it looks very heavy and uncomfortable despite how stunning it is. It also looks like a disco ball, perfect for a 70s party! 😂

8.) Julia Roberts

I’m OBSESSED with that hot pink goddess dress! It’s one of my favorite colors, and I just love the sexiness and elegance, as well as the matching sandal heels. Vivian Ward would definitely approve of this look. Julia will forever be a style icon!

9.) Tina Fey

The royal blue and flowing bottom are by far the best features of this outfit. That’s all I have to say, other than that she looks gorgeous AF. Period. I’d also be happy to sign a petition for her, Amy Poehler, and Maya Rudolph to host the Oscars next year together. How amazing would that be? Just wanting them present one award together was perfection!

10.) Leititia Wright

Some say this look is a tad boring. It may be my least favorite on this list, but I still think it’s very graceful and demure. I like the neutral colors, it makes the dress look timeless but not too old-fashioned. Plus, the leaf embroidery gives off a playful, youthful vibe in a way. Leitita looked so beautiful as always!

10 Best Dressed at the Grammys

Happy Tuesday, y’all!

Hollywood awards season is still in full swing. In less than two weeks is the biggest movie awards night of the year (aka the Oscars), and this past Sunday was the biggest music awards night of the year … the Grammys!

I’m gonna be real honest with y’all, I didn’t watch the Grammys. I didn’t even watch the live stream of the red carpet on E! News. I know, how absurd of me! I’m just not as excited about the Grammys as am about the Oscars or Golden Globes. I’m more familiar with movie actors/actresses than I am with music artists. However, that didn’t stop me from looking online and seeing what the celebs were showing off on the red carpet. I gotta say, I was very impressed! From Miley Cyrus’s chic pantsuit by Mugler to Anna Kendrick’s sweet and sassy Roaring Twenties dress by Ralph & Russo, I didn’t find myself disappointed one bit! Although I’m a little bummed Carrie Underwood didn’t attend the ceremony because she always has the most glamorous red carpet outfits. But hey, you can’t always get what you want. Plus, I’m thrilled that she finally had her beautiful baby boy Jacob and is taking time off for family. God bless her and the Underwood-Fisher fam!

Anyways, here are my top ten favorite red carpet looks from the Grammys!

1.) Lauren Daigle

Best Dressed at the Golden Globes

Happy Tuesday! It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these posts. I’m happy to be (sort of) back in the routine, and you’ll get to see even more posts with winter, spring semester, and awards season currently happening!

Speaking of awards season, did anyone watch the Golden Globes this past Sunday? I sure did! Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve always enjoyed watching Hollywood award show events. As I watched the glamorous events happen on the TV screen, I would daydream about having the opportunity to attend one of the many popular award shows, wear a beautiful haute couture designer gown, and meet some of my favorite celebrities. But for real, what teenager doesn’t dream about all that? And if I’m being honest with myself, to this day I still dream about attending an awards show, movie premiere, or some kind of big Hollywood event. I obviously don’t want to be a celebrity, but I would love to be an audience member just to be a part of the action. I bet events and shows also look for influencers or bloggers to help sponsor, so that’s definitely a possibility. Never give up on a dream!

One of the best parts about watching award shows, besides predicting and seeing who wins, is seeing the celebrity fashion on the red carpet. The glitz and glamour is everything. As a fashion blogger and fashion student at Kent State, it makes perfect sense as to why I love it. I always love imaginig what my favorite celebrities are going to be wearing and actually seeing what they wear, either better than I imagined or not what I imagined at all (which could go either way). It’s always felt like a special occasion for me, even if I’m watching from my couch in my sweatpants while eating pizza and drinking wine. Award shows are my version of Super Bowl games!

With that being said, here are my top ten picks for best dressed at the 2019 Golden Globes!

1.) Gina Rodriguez

Gina+at+Golden+Globes.jpg

Gina is such a cutie. I immediately fell in love with her look when I first saw her on the red carpet. This dress is like a combination of Cinderella and a goddess. She looks so elegant and sexy all at once!

Designer: Reem Acra

2.) Holly Taylor

rexfeatures_10048066df.jpg

Red is my favorite color, so this dress is a winner to me. I love the straps and how from top to bottom flows like a mermaid tail. Holly looked adorable!

Designer: Ines Di Santo

3.) Kristen Bell

rexfeatures_10048065fk.jpg

This is what I call a timeless Hollywood look. Kristen looked absolutely drop-dead gorgeous and flawless! I loved seeing photos of her twirling in the dress on the red carpet. She’s an actual Disney princess come to life, just like her character Princess Anna in Frozen!

Designer: Zuhair Murad

4.) Kaley Cuoco

The navy velvet top is cute, the belt is cute, the bottom is cute, and her hair is cute. Cute cute cute cute! Plus, the dress also has pockets! Kaley actually said in an interview that wearing an outfit with pockets helps her stay calm on the red carpet. That’s such a great idea. And who doesn’t love pockets?!

Designer: Monique Lhuillier

5.) Keri Russell

What’s not to love about this dress? She looks so sexy and gorgeous! The neckline is a little too low in my opinion, but the dress overall is super glamorous.

Designer: Monique Lhuillier

6.) Julia Roberts

This was one of my mom’s favorite looks, as well as mine. I love the nude bottom tulle cape and top with the black pants and heels. It looks so chic and simple at the same time. I love how women’s pants are becoming super popular and trendy on the red carpet!

Designer: Stella McCartney

7.) Danai Gurira

rexfeatures_10048067ll.jpg

This look is so fiery and fierce! I fell in love with Danai when she played Okoye in Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War. She can slay in Wakanda AND on the red carpet!

Designer: Rodarte

8.) Halle Berry

LOVE Halle Berry with long hair, especially in that sleek ponytail with bangs! And this dress looks amazing on her. She is literally slaying the red carpet. She is a killer queen!

Designer: Zuhair Murad

9.) Emma Stone

rexfeatures_10048065el.jpg

I’ve always adored Emma Stone, and so does my dad and almost every guy I know 😂 The rose gold tulle and metallic embroidery match elegantly and make the gown fit for a princess. I heard a few people comment that the top of her dress looked too puffy, but I don’t think it looks that puffy. Plus, puffy tops are so in now!

Designer: Louis Vuitton

10.) Lady Gaga

Screen Shot 2019-01-06 at 8.38.21 PM.png

Periwinkle is one of my other favorite colors, and I love how the dress and hair match. Only Lady Gaga could rock a look like this. Sorry, Judy Garland!

Designer: Valentino

BONUS: Emily Blunt

What can I say? She’s practically perfect in every way! She and her husband John Krasinski also win Best Dressed Couple in my heart. If you haven’t seen pictures of them from the other night, go Google them right now. You won’t regret it ❤️
